                                             book a 'private' art workshop with Kirsty at her studio.

Kirsty's popular art workshops offer the chance to learn about art and practise artistic techniques in her unusual studio on Platform 2 of Ladybank Railway Station in the rural Howe of Fife.  Kirsty studied Art and Art History at Goldsmiths College, London University in 1992. She has delivered workshops for the Royal Botanics of Edinburgh, Artlink-Edinburgh, various councils and art societies. Kirsty is well known for her flower paintings which she exhibits widely in UK and abroad and are held in both private and public collections.

Numbers of participants are usually kept to a maximum of 6 , ensuring plenty of space to work, and focused  tuition. Workshops are structured to support the development of both absolute beginners and more experienced painters.

All materials and equipment are supplied, plus cake ! Lunch, or a celebratory glass of wine can also be provided by arrangement.

Daily charge of £150 for one day workshop, 10.30am - 4pm, for up to 6 people ( plus an £8 materials charge per person).

CREATIVE FLOWER PAINTING

Inspiration from flowers, art history, flower photography, beautiful swiss 'lascaux' paints. Expert tuition in the techniques of acrylic painting and colour mixing, experiment with a projector to draw out your composition (a modern-day version of the pin-hole camera) and progress onto your own project.

DRAWING
Experiment with different pencils, graphites and charcoals. Use soft and oil pastels and coloured pencils to integrate colour. Explore line, light, texture, colour and shade through a series of exercises large and small, then construct a simple or complex still life to work on in mixed drawing media.

COLOUR
Love colour ? Learn about colour theories and artists’ use of colour. Experiment using acrylic paints with a range of colour exercises and move on to a create an artwork inspired by what you’ve learnt.

MIXED MEDIA
Experiment with pens, pencils, pastels, collage, acrylic and watercolours, working on papers and boards. Inspiration and expert tuition included!

ACRYLIC PAINTING

An introduction to acrylic painting and its wonderful range of possibility and limitations through structured tuition. From colour mixing, blending, to experimenting with a range of mediums - from impasto to glazes - this will give a good grounding from which to progress your painting techniques.

WATERCOLOUR

An introduction to watercolour painting and its wonderful range of possibility and limitations through structured tuition. From colour mixing, washes, masking fluid and Gum Arabic to experimenting with a range of papers, this will give a good grounding from which to progress your painting techniques.
