ART CLASSES with Kirsty Lorenz
Her popular workshops offer the chance to learn from the reputed flower painter in her bright, unusual and inspiring studio in the 'Old First Aid Rooms' on Platform 2 of Ladybank Station in the rural Howe of Fife. Kirsty studied Art and Art History at Goldsmiths College, London University. She has delivered workshops for the Royal Botanics of Edinburgh, Artlink-Edinburgh, various coulcils and art societies. She exhibits her work widely in the UK and abroad and her work is held in both public and private collections.
All her workshops include provision high quality materials.
Numbers of participants are usually kept to a maximum of 6 , ensuring plenty of space to spread out and work.
Workshops are structured to support the development of both beginners and more experienced painters.
Special workshops for groups can be arranged.
AUTUMN PROGRAMME 2010
Sat 25th & Sun 26th September CREATIVE FLOWER PAINTING WORKSHOP (1 or 2 Days) Be inspired by a plethora of flowers, art history, flower photographs and use beautiful swiss ’lascaux’ paints. Be instructed in the techniques of acrylic painting and colour, experiment with using a projector (a modern version of the pin-hole camera). Create in a happy, relaxed and friendly atmosphere, expert tuition with lots of space to spread out and work. Do one day, or two days to really focus and complete a more ambitious artwork.
Sat 9th October COLOUR WORKSHOP, theory and practise (1Day) Love colour ? Learn about colour theory and artists’ use of colour. Experiment using a special range of acrylic paints with pure colour pigments, colour exercises, abstraction and depiction. Please bring up to 3 favorite photo’s or images from books for use on the day (could be landscapes, flowers, an artwork or anything that inspires you with its colour).
Sat 30th October DRAWING WORKSHOP (1 Day) Learn about dawing techniques and materials. Be inspired by different artists drawing styles. Learn and experiment through a series of drawing exercises, large and small scale, then spend some time focusing on one piece . We will work from life using flowers and fruit as our subject, focusing on line, form and shade.

Sat 4th December CHRISTMAS BAUBLE PAINTING (1 Day) Get into the Christmas spirit in creative style. Paint and decorate baubles with beautiful flowers, patterns, polar bears, anything that appeals! Paints, glitters and varnish supplied. Be skilled, stylish or just fun, they are lovely to decorate your own tree or give as unusual gifts. Very sociable, mince pies and inspiration supplied !
All workshops run from 11am - 4pm, high quality materials and refreshments supplied. Maximum of 6 participants per workshop. £42.50 per day. (There is £2.50 - £5 materials surcharge if you chose to do a medium or large painting, to be paid on the day)
N.B. Christmas Bauble Painting is £35 for the day and has a maximum of 10 participants.
Materials, refreshments and snacks are included. Please supply your own lunch and wear your painting clothes.

There is a minimum of 3 participants per workshop, if less than 3 people are booked for a workshop it will be cancelled and you may attend a future workshop or get a refund. If you need to cancel a booking please do so at least 2 weeks before a workshop date in order to get a refund.
Gift Vouchers An Art Workshop makes an unusual and experiential present. Attractive Gift Vouchers are available for workshops, places can be booked in advance at a later date by the recipient.
Logistics The artists studio is in the 'Old First First Aid Rooms', just down from the Ticket Office on Platform 2 of Ladybank Station - this is on the Edinburgh-Dundee and Perth Circle Lines. The Studio opening/closing times can be adapted for those arriving or departing by trains. Train times available from www.travelline.co.uk. There is ample car parking in and around the station.
