Daisy Flower PaintingsI began creating daisy flower paintings when my first daughter was born in 2004. I found myself with my baby on our back green making a daisy chain as I had in my childhood. I was enjoying the nostalgic sunny reverie it put me in and realised what a lovely painting they might make. I began to experiment with images in the studio and it was the beginning of a long lasting project for me. I am still inspired by their humble prolific beauty and never cease to be impressed by their great charm despite their small stature. On a good daisy day the grass is sparkling like a starry night sky with their flowers and I cant envisage ever not wanting to paint them. Every daisy, daisy chain or other configuration of daisies I paint is individual and original. This is conceptually fundamental to me as part of my daisy project. I love that the flowers are all the same yet subtly different and wish my paintings to reflect this. I continue to paint them in series singly, each one an individual. I call this series 'One in a Million', and I presented the very first 'One in a Million No.1' to my daughter for her first birthday. I also continue to paint daisy chains. I call these 'Wheel of Life'. Again, every one is individual. I make alot of daisy chains in our local park each summer. Below you can see some examples from my daisy flower painting project. Sometimes paintings are available for sale and I am also happy to work to commission. A few images are available as high quality artist prints. Please contact me if you are interested. This summer I am considering introducing the odd buttercup to the frey ... watch this space !
