Floresce

Floresce means ‘a bursting into flower’. This is a complex composition of 97 purple spring crocus bursting into flower. Some of the flowers are left in white silhouette form as a way of depicting the ‘action’ of bursting. The use of shadow and scale perspective creates a sense of space within which this action is taking place. In this painting I am exploring this action of flowering as a metaphor for the creative process.

The painting is 100x140cm, oil and acrylic on linen.
