Kitchen Garden Votives

This is a series of life-size portrayals of posies made with vegetable, fruit and herb flowers. Part of my ongoing ‘Votive Offerings’ project they continue to explore the motif of the posy as gift, message or prayer. The flowers themselves are ephemeral in nature but the paintings are more long lasting. These ‘votives’ may represent prayers or thanks for harvest and diversity, as well as a celebration of the beauty of these plants and their flowers.

These paintings are watercolour and acrylic on paper. The first 9 ‘Kitchen Garden Votives’ were exhibited initially at the Society of Scottish Artists Annual Exhibition at National Galleries of Scotland, December 2018.
