Opening evening 6.30-8.30pm, Friday 26th August
Artist Talk 1.30-2.30pm Saturday 27th August
Both the opening event and the talk are free, with light refreshments served. Please RSVP and/or book a place by calling 01387 262084, or email arts@dumgal.gov.uk.
The exhibition presents my new paintings inspired by the medicinal and spiritual healing properties of plants, old herbal remedy recipes and plant illustrations from 15th and 16th century. I will also be showing my ‘Flowering Sun’ and ‘Phases of the Moon in Bindweed’ series paintings and a selection of ‘Votive Offerings’ posy paintings. You can see my recent paintings here.
I’m thrilled to add that my work is in esteemed company as for the same duration in Gallery 2 at Gracefield Art Centre there is an amazing exhibition, ‘Claude Cahun: Beneath this Mask’. Claude Cahun (1894-1954) is best known for her original, enigmatic and playful photographic self-portraits. Decades ahead of its time, her work toyed with perceived gender roles and identity – concerns that are still as current and pertinent in today’s world as ever. It’s a Hayward Gallery Touring Exhibition.
